We are on the hunt for a  COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER to join our Head Office team. 

Position can be based in Vancouver, BC, or Toronto, ON.

The Communications Manager will be a key member of the team responsible for Communications & Guest Experience at Cactus Club Cafe. 

The successful candidate has experience in media and influencer relations, issues management, stakeholder communications, and is a flexible team player open to working cross-functionally across Communications and Guest Experience.

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Collaborating with the Communications and Guest Experience team across the country, while working closely with the Guest Experience team to maintain and enhance Cactus Club Cafe’s reputation.

Communications Duties:

  • Deliver strategic PR programs for the relaunch of full store operations, new and exciting restaurant openings, and ongoing initiatives to drive brand awareness and affinity. 
  • Work closely with PR agencies in ON and BC on creative PR programs and events. 
  • Develop and maintain national partnerships and collaborations. 
  • Work cross-functionally with Operators, HR, Marketing and other departments on various programs and activities.
  • Provide support for media inquiries and maintaining relationships with local, regional and national media.
  • Play an important role in the development of internal communications to all levels of the organization. 
  • Manage proactive communications best practices to ensure effective media relations protocols are followed in the restaurants.
  • Participate in ongoing development and implementation for Corporate Social Responsibility and fundraising events for the corporate office and individual stores as needed.

Guest Experience Activities: 

  • Support the guest experience team on issues management and strategic counsel. 
  • Undertake difficult phone conversations to guests on sensitive and important topics as needed. 
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

You Have

  • Post-secondary education and/or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, journalism or other related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in a dynamic communications or public relations role.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry is a plus. 
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and produce quality results.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude.
